In addition to providing information about
real estate and the services I can provide, my goal is to also give you a portal
for information about Gay Palm Springs. Over the past several years, the Palm
Springs area has become a preferred gay retirement community on the west coast.
Current estimates are that the Palm springs gay and lesbian population is now
estimated to be 30%. Our city council also has members of the LGBTQ community
represented.
In today's challenging Palm Springs real estate market, selecting
the right Palm Springs gay real estate agent is crucial. It can make all the
difference in the world. Harry's specialty is Client Satisfaction by providing
the best service and support in selling and buying residential homes here in the
desert. Whether you're planning on buying, selling, or you just have a question,
feel free to call Harry Sterling (your best choice for a Palm Springs Gay
Realtor) and let him make "Client Satisfaction YOUR Reality". He can represent
you for residential property in any of the Coachella Valley desert area cities,
including Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage,
Bermuda Dunes, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, and La Quinta.
I am originally from Washington DC and moved to northern California
in 1975 after joining Hewlett-Packard's commercial computer group. Four years
prior to my retirement from HP, I and 11 other gay and lesbian employees
performed a "Readers Theater" before the president and his executive committee,
relating personal experiences of being gay in Hewlett-Packard. At the time, I
was a General Manager and the highest openly gay manager in the company. This
resulted in Hewlett-Packard's being the first fortune 500 company to extend
domestic partner benefits to its employees 3 months later. I took an early
retirement from Hewlett-Packard in 2000 and moved to Palm Springs. I am now a
licensed Real Estate agent and live with my partner, Denny, of 38 years,
enjoying friends and family in our desert paradise. We were married on June
21,2008 by the Mayor of Palm Springs during a marriage celebration sponsored by
the city. It was a great event, with over 25 couples being married individually,
by members of the city council and mayor. Our closest friends and my brother and
sister-in-law attended.

Palm Springs has been referred to by many as a new Gay Mecca. The
city boasts a very large and diverse Gay resident population and has become a
prime travel destination from the West coast (Los Angeles, San Diego, San
Francisco, Seattle), Midwest, Northeast, Southwest, as well as internationally.
More and more "Family" visitors from the Pacific Rim, Europe and South America
are discovering Palm Springs’ Gay-friendly spirit. Why is Palm Springs so
appealing to the Gay traveler? It’s a huge outdoor playground with consistently
brilliant sunshine, great for sunning and all types of outdoor activities with
the sweet, clean air of the famed Coachella Valley. The jagged, boulder-covered
San Jacinto Mountains are set against a brilliant blue sky which reflects hot,
dry heat onto the palm-studded valley desert paradise.
There is something truly special about Palm Springs beyond its
beautiful oasis setting in the arid Southern California desert. The Greater Palm
Springs area has more Gay-Friendly restaurants, nightclubs, hotels, retailers
and other businesses than any other one gay destination. Here in Palm Springs,
more than anywhere else, homosexual men and women of all ages and from all
backgrounds and places visit and are welcomed by the community. In fact, Palm
Springs during the last five (5) years has experienced an explosion of new Gay
residents and businesses. Current estimates are that we are now 40 percent of
the population. We are welcomed in Palm Springs.
Palm Springs has an ongoing flow of exciting Gay-oriented calendar
of events, including the International Film Festival, the Nabisco Classic
(formally the Dinah Shore Classic) and of course the infamous White Party on
Easter Weekend. The city’s Pride Festival is a sanctioned Palm Springs event
with a fabulous parade followed by an all-afternoon and evening festival with
live entertainment, food, dancing, concessions and fun games. The Arenas Street
Party is another Gay festival, not unlike Pride, which occurs on Arenas Road,
Palm Springs’ Castro Street, which now lasts two (2) days. At Halloween, Arenas
Street is converted into another Gay festival block party with costume parties
at the many bars and a street costume show and formal judging contest.
Every Thursday night Palm Springs’ main street, Palm Canyon Drive,
is closed to traffic and opened to an extensive festival including food vendors,
arts and crafts exhibits and loads of free entertainment by numerous artists.
Strolling, munching, looking and sipping the length of Palm Canyon Drive from
one end to the other in the heart of Palm Springs is a great way to ‘people and
puppy watch’ for an hour or an entire evening.
This is the life in sunny Palm Springs California. The climate is
the envy of the world with more than 330 days of sunshine each year. The town’s
atmosphere is laid back and like a small village full of small shops and
specialty stores. And most everyone is gay friendly. Come and enjoy our desert
paradise.
